During her official visit to Morocco, French Culture Minister Rachida Dati signed Monday several agreements aimed at deepening cultural ties between France and Morocco, with a focus on sectors like video games, cinema, audiovisual media, heritage, and archaeology.
Among the key agreements, Dati renewed the partnership between France’s National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) and Morocco’s National Institute of Archaeology and Heritage (INSAP), promoting continued collaboration on archaeological preservation.
A new Institute for Media and Audiovisual Studies will be established, fostering local expertise in cultural industries.
Additionally, a French Institute branch will be set up in the region to further cultural exchange and educational opportunities.
During her visit, Dati visited the British Kasbah in Tarfaya, built in 1938, a symbol of the region’s deep historical connections.

She also visited the Casa del Mar, a fortress constructed by Scottish trader Donald Mackenzie in 1882, which has stood for over 140 years as a testament to cross-cultural interactions. Another key stop was the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Museum in Tarfaya, which honors the writer’s connection to the city, particularly during his time as an airmail pilot.

Morocco’s participation as a guest of honor at the “Malraux” forum on video games was announced, reflecting growing interest in the digital creative sector.
A partnership between the National Libraries of Morocco and France was also established to enrich shared cultural resources.
